Galileo Chini was a painter, ceramist, and set illustrator who founded a famous manufactory in Florence called “Arte della Ceramica”. Some of his works in Montecatini are on exteriors, like the grès panels at the Tamerici Pavilion; some are in interiors, like those at the Terme Tettuccio, the town hall, and Hotel La Pace. He gave to Montecatini Baths that glamour which attracted famous people from all over the World: Giuseppe Verdi, Madame Curie, Giacomo Puccini and so on. October 16th has been the last day of an interesting event named Food and Book organised by “Slow Wine” (an italian association of sommeliers) and “Leggeretutti”and italian monthly book review. One of the guest star has been the anglo-sicilian writer Simonetta Agnello Hornby.
Elegant and harmonious, this town is enriched by the Liberty style of the buildings . The “liberty” style has been utilized by architects and artists to decorate the mineral water baths Buildings which have been one of the prefered goals for travelers and artists of the first part of XX century.
